Starting first with the ratings, there are some interesting moves being made here. For as potent as Paul George is in the rest of the game, it’s a bit surprising to see him being tweaked downward slightly, even if it’s just by a single point. More intriguing still is the fact that Celtics Point Guard Kemba Walker and Timberwolves Center Karl-Anthony Towns are being handed the dreaded -2. While some might say George has been in a slump as of late, we’re not entirely sure how to explain the other two negative moves. The same goes for Bam Adebayo, who continues to perform well for the Heat despite his downgrade in the patch today. No ratings update can be perfect, however, and fans always find a few odd decisions among this very large list.

What’s perhaps more interesting than the ratings, though, are this update’s implications with regard to the trade deadline. Following an exciting day of maneuvers, fans already have a chance to see Evan Fournier suit up for the Celtics, Norman Powell play for the Trailblazers and George Hill drain three-pointers for the 76ers. Every major change is live in the game right now, so these ratings adjustments are just an added benefit for an NBA 2K21 experience that feels very fresh, depending on the team you use. Outside of the never-ending debate surrounding individual athletes, most of what’s documented here makes sense.

NBA 2K21 is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Stadia.
